Elpidio Jiménez

Biographical Information[edit]
Elpidio Jiménez was a multisport star.
He was a soccer player on the Dominican champion team in 1943. In the 1946 Central American and Caribbean Games, he participated in the 100 meter dash, 400 meter dash and 4x400 relay. He set records for numerous races during his collegiate career in Puerto Rico. He pitched for the Dominican national team in the 1951 Amateur World Series, fanning 12 and allowing one run to beat Colombia. He played pro ball for the Tigres del Licey (1953-1954) and Estrellas Orientales (1955-1956). He was the athletic director of the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo after his playing career ended. He is in the Dominican Sports Hall of Fame.
