Biographical Information[edit]
It's bliss - Elmer Bliss - when you get a chance to pitch in the big leagues and go seven innings without giving up an earned run. That, however, was Elmer's total major league pitching career, one game with the New York Highlanders, for which he earned the win. Oddly enough, while that did not earn him another chance to pitch, he did come back the next year with the Highlanders for one more game... as an outfielder. Bliss pitched at least 10 seasons in the minors. In 1906, he went 19-8 for Grand Rapids. He also managed a couple times in the minors, once for the Grand Rapids Wolverines and once for Wellsville.
