Biographical Information[edit]
A Union Association player in 1884, Elias Peak also played for Toledo in 1888.
Peak is sometimes remembered as part of the "all geography" team, along with Hubie Brooks, Donnie Hill, and other players with names that relate features that may appear on maps.
During 1895-1897 Sporting Life several times carried notices that Peak was looking to get back into the game. Prior to 1895 he had worked for the postal service.
Sporting Life reported on the opening of Keystone Park, the park for the Philadelphia Keystones, and the first game played by the Keystones (April 9, 1884 issue). It was an exhibition game against a local nine called the Foleys. The Foleys' lead-off man and second baseman was named Peak (no first name given), and it was possibly Elias. The player Peak for the Foleys again appeared in an exhibition game with the Foleys against the Keystones, apparently on April 14th, leading off again and this time playing catcher. On April 19th, Elias played in Keystone Park against the Keystones for the Boston Reds, appearing in right field. However, in May, he began appearing for the Keystones.
In 1883, a player named Peak appeared also for the Foley club, as well as occasionally for other clubs.
