Biographical Information[edit]
Edwin Moreno began playing in the Texas Rangers minor league system in 2000 and he stayed there through 2004. He spent 2005 in the Philadelphia Phillies chain before playing in the San Diego Padres system from 2007-2009. Moreno made his major league debut with the Padres in 2009 and appeared in 19 games where he had a 1-3 record with a 4.84 ERA.
Moreno began his coaching career as the pitching coach for the Diablos Rojos del México in 2016. He followed that with a bullpen coach stint with the 2016/2017 Águilas del Zulia in the Venezuelan League.
In 2019 the New York Yankees hired Moreno to coach pitchers on their DSL Yankees team. He was scheduled to return in 2020 before the minor league season was cancelled due to COVID-19. Moreno moved to the St. Louis Cardinals organization in 2021 as the pitching coach for the DSL Cardinals Blue. He moved up to the Peoria Chiefs in 2022 and continued there in 2023. Under Moreno, the Chiefs posted a 3.84 earned run average in 2023, second lowest in the Midwest League. In both years under his tutelage, the Chiefs had the Cardinals Minor League Pitcher of the Year on the roster. Moreno returned to Peoria in 2024 for a third season as pitching coach.
