Biographical Information[edit]

Edwin Fierro has pitched as high as AAA and has been on the Mexican national team.

Fierro debuted with the 2012 Piratas de Campeche, going 1-4 with a 8.00 ERA in 14 games (two starts), with a 2.22 WHIP. He improved to 1-3, 3.03 with four saves for them in 2013, his WHIP getting cut almost in half to 1.14. He began 2014 with Campeche (2-1, 3.74 in 24 G). He then was signed by the Tampa Bay Rays and scout Eddie Diaz. [1] He was assigned to the GCL Rays and saved two games, losing once, and allowing two unearned runs in six and a third innings.

The right-hander pitched for Mexico in the 2014 Central American and Caribbean Games that fall, allowing six hits and two runs in 3 2/3 IP. He got the win over Panama. [2] He made his winter league debut and struggled with his hometown Yaquis de Obregón, giving up nine hits and eight runs (all earned) in 1 2/3 IP. He split 2015 between the GCL Rays (0 R in 2 IP), Bowling Green Hot Rods (3-3, 3 Sv, 1.65 in 20 G) and Charlotte Stone Crabs (1-1, 4.15 in 3 G). He had a 1.32 ERA for the 2015-2016 Yaquis for a vast improvement over the prior winter.

He spent all of 2016 with Charlotte, going 2-3 with a save and a 3.78 ERA, walking only 9 in 33 1/3 IP. In 2017, he pitched for the Montgomery Biscuits (6-4, Sv, 3.11 in 30 G) and Durham Bulls (7 R in 5 1/3 IP). Only José Mujica won more games for the Biscuits. With Obregón, he was 1-0 with one run in twelve innings in 2017-2018. No longer in the Rays chain, he was 1-2 with a save and a 2.84 ERA in 34 games for the 2018-2019 Yaquis. He tied Casey Coleman for sixth in the Mexican Pacific League in appearances.

Returning to the Mexican League for the first time in five years, he was 0-3 with a 6.59 ERA in 36 games for the 2019 Diablos Rojos del México. He was 0-2 with a 5.40 ERA that winter, walking 14 in 15 innings. The 2020 LMB season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Baseball returned to Mexico in the winter and he was 2-2 with a 4.50 ERA in 22 outings for the Yaquis. He was 4-2 with a 7.30 ERA for the 2021 Diablos Rojos.
