Biographical Information[edit]
Eduardo Romero has played for the Nicaraguan national team several times. He was 1 for 3 in the 1999 Pan American Games. In the 2001 Baseball World Cup, the 23-year-old was 4 for 14 (all singles, no walks) as Nicaragua's main right fielder. He helped Nicaragua win Gold at the 2001 Central American Games. He led the 2003 Pan American Games with 6 RBI, beating out the likes of Yulieski Gourriel, Eric Patterson, Tyler Greene, Brent Lillibridge, Frederich Cepeda, Kendry Morales, Luis Polonia, Osmani Urrutia, Paul Janish, Jeff Larish and Eduardo Paret.
Romero was 5 for 27 in the 2003 Pan American Games. He batted only .200/.375/.280 in the 2003 Baseball World Cup; his 7 walks tied Sandor Guido for the Nicaraguan lead. In right field field, he had two assists and no errors in nine games. During the 2005 Baseball World Cup, he fell to .216/.211/.243 and had two errors in right in ten games. He missed the next several major events.
Romero resurfaced with Nicaragua in the 2010 Pan American Games Qualification Tournament.
