Team Bio[edit]

The Edenton Steamers are a Summer Collegiate Baseball that played in the Coastal Plain League. The Edenton Steamers, who debuted in 1998, finished dead last in their inaugural season and did not make their first playoff appearance until 2004. They have since won the Petit Cup three times and the 2015 team was named Summer Collegiate Team of the Year by Perfect Game. In 2020 the Steamers left the CPL after 22 years to join the Tidewater Collegiate League.

Like every other Summer Collegiate Baseball organization, the Steamers are dedicated and designed to provide minor league style competition for NCAA players that wish to continue on into professional baseball. The Edenton Steamers operate in the model a Minor League team: playing nightly before fans in stadiums which seat thousands, using wood bats and minor league specification equipment and experiencing road trips between games. The Steamers actively recruit players, and continue to improve their roster year by year. Edenton Steamers athletes are unpaid in order to maintain their NCAA eligibility, and live with host families in the same manner as Single A and Independent League players.
