Biographical Information

Ed Stratton pitched three times for the Baltimore Marylands of the National Association. He went 27 innings and gave up 75 runs, but only 25 of them were earned, so his career ERA is 8.33, partially hiding how awful he truly was. He also gave up 75 hits, but only walked one batter; he did not strike out anyone. That was his only big league season.

He played for semi-pro teams in the Baltimore, MD area in the late 1870s. He turned up in Norfolk, VA the following decade, and later became a shoe salesman in Richmond, VA. He is listed in the local city directories from 1884 to 1892, then returned to Baltimore.
