Biographical Information[edit]
The ghost of minor-leaguer Ed Matt is said to inhabit the house where he used to live in Traverse City, Michigan. He reportedly fell while on a train to report to the Chicago White Stockings in 1913, and was released.
Matt played for the LaCrosse Outcats in 1909, hitting .250/?/.294 in 20 games and fielding .885 at shortstop. In 1910, he hit .247/?/.307 between the Kewanee Boilermakers and Burlington Pathfinders. He split 1911 between the Ottumwa Speedboys (.211/?/.254 in 23 G) and Oshkosh Indians (.220 in 97 G). In '12, he batted .256 and slugged .315 for the Traverse City Resorters. In his final season, 1913, he appeared in 39 games for the Manistee Champs and hit .231/?/.246.
