Biographical Information[edit]

First baseman Ed Kallina had a lackluster minor league career -- save for one season. In 1929, between the Midland Colts of the high-flying West Texas-New Mexico League and the Sherman Snappers of the Lone Star League, Kallina batted .420 with 50 home runs in just 431 at-bats. He led both leagues in homers; his six dingers tied for the Lone Star League lead when it folded and his 44 led the WTNML (he also led with a .431 average). Records indicate he hit only 80 home runs for his professional career.
