Biographical Information[edit]

Dylan Dodd was selected by the Atlanta Braves in the 3rd round of the 2021 amateur draft, out of Southeast Missouri State University. He did not languish in the minors long, as less than two years later, he made the Braves' starting rotation a few days into the 2023 season, alongside fellow rookie Jared Shuster. Technically, he started the year in the minors, as the Braves wanted to carry an extra reliever into their opening series, but the plan was always to activate him as soon as the team needed a fifth starter, a need that became more pressing when ace Max Fried had to be placed on the injured list after his Opening Day start. As a result, Dylan stared in front of large group of friends and family members against the St. Louis Cardinals on April 4th, not far from his hometown of Bismarck, IL. He did not disappoint his fans, as he limited the Cards to 1 run in 5 innings to earn credit for his first career win, 4-1.

He was a two-way player in high school and junior college, also playing the outfield and hit .297 in 46 games in the Prospect League in 2018 before joining Southeast Missouri, where he became a full-time pitcher.
