Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Jared Shuster was drafted with the 25th overall pick of the 2020 amateur draft by the Atlanta Braves, out of Wake Forest University. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, he was only able to begin his professional career the following year, with the Rome Braves of High-A East. After going 2-0, 3.70 in 15 games (14 starts), he received a late-season promotion to the Mississippi Braves of the Double-A South, where he had no decisions and a 7.36 ERA in 3 starts. When in Rome, he was kept on a short leash, logging just 58 1/3 innings, as the Braves did not want to overstress his arm after a season in which he hardly pitched.

In 2022, he started the year with Mississippi, now in the renamed Southern League and went 6-7, 2.78 in 17 games. For the second straight year, he received a late-season promotion, this one to the AAA Gwinnett Stripers of the International League, where he was 0-2, 3.96 in 8 games. 23 of his 23 appearance were as a starting pitcher, and he struck out 133 batters in 129 1/3 innings. He was selected to play for the National League team in the 2022 Futures Game, where he gave up a homer to his former battery-mate with Rome, Shea Langeliers.
