Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Dylan Axelrod was selected by the San Diego Padres in the 30th round of the 2007 amateur draft. He was signed by scout Brendan Hause and made his pro debut that summer. After two and a half years in the Padres' organization, he was signed by the Chicago White Sox in 2009 and reached the majors in 2011 as a September call-up. He made his debut on September 7th against the Minnesota Twins, throwing two frames of scoreless relief. A week later, he made his first start in the majors, facing the Detroit Tigers and giving up two earned runs while striking out eight over six innings. He earned his first win on September 26th against the Toronto Blue Jays, holding the team scoreless over six innings. In parts of five big league seasons, split with the Pale Hose and Cincinnati Reds, Dylan finished 9-15 with a 5.27 ERA and 85 walks to 164 strikeouts in 228 2/3 innings.
