Biographical Information[edit]
Dakin "Dusty" Miller, played for the Chicago Orphans in 1902 and also spent a decade in the minors, mostly in the Western League and the Western Association.
He is not to be confused with another Dusty Miller, that one being Charles "Dusty" Miller, who played in the National League from 1895-1899.
Dakin was the #4 outfielder on the Orphans in his only season, appearing many times in left field as Jimmy Slagle sometimes moved over to center field. Miller's batting average, while only five points below the team average of .251, was far below that of the regular outfielders, who all hit over .300.
He also played part of the 1902 season for the Kansas City Blue Stockings, a team which was managed by Kid Nichols.
