The Duluth White Sox began the 1903 season as the Duluth Cardinals until they got new uniforms in August. Blue uniforms replaced red uniforms and "White Sox" replaced "Cardinals" as the team's nickname. The new nickname stuck until the club disbanded during WWI. It was used for one season when professional baseball returned to Duluth in 1934 before that club changed its name to the Duluth Dukes.
