Biographical Information

Pitcher Drew Strotman was drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 4th round of the 2017 amateur draft, out of Saint Mary's College of California. He played in the Rays' organization from 2017 to 2021, sitting out the 2020 season because the minor leagues were shut down by the Coronavirus pandemic. During that span, he made it to AAA, where he started the 2021 season with the Durham Bulls of Triple-A East. He was used exclusively as a starter, except for a couple of relief outings for the Hudson Valley Renegades of the New York-Penn League in his very first professional season. However, an injury in 2019 set him back, limiting him to just 9 games and 24 innings, with 4 of the games being rehabilitation outings with the GCL Rays.

On July 22, 2021, he was traded to the Minnesota Twins, along with P Joe Ryan who was competing for the United States at the Tokyo Olympics at the time, in return for DH Nelson Cruz and P Calvin Faucher. He finished the season with the St. Paul Saints, in the same league as Durham, combining between the two teams to go 10-5, 5.29 in 25 games. In 2022, he started the year back at St. Paul. However, used as a reliever, he was hit hard, to the tune of a 9.49 ERA over his first 8 outings.
