Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Don Peters was taken by the Oakland Athletics as the 26th overall pick in the 1990 amateur draft, one selection after pitcher Robbie Beckett and a couple slots ahead of hurler Gabe White.

He was on Team USA in the 1989 Intercontinental Cup. The inconsistent Peters began his career with a 0.76 ERA in 35 2/3 innings for the Southern Oregon A's in 1990. Entering 1991, he was named the #54 prospect in the game and the #4 prospect in the A's system by Baseball America ... he had a 5.00 ERA that year. He didn't pitch from 1992 to 1994, having suffered an arm injury. He had a 4.24 ERA his first year back in 1995. Then he missed 1996.

Upon his return, he latched on with the Arizona Diamondbacks organization and had a 2.03 ERA in 34 relief appearances between the South Bend Silver Hawks and High Desert Mavericks in 1997. He pitched in the Diamondbacks' system through 1999, briefly reaching Triple-A in 1998 and 1999, but he didn't do well in either campaign. He played for the independent Yuma Bullfrogs in 2000, posting a 2.84 ERA in 14 appearances.

Overall, he was 14-26 with a 4.07 ERA in 181 games (40 starts) in a seven-year career.
