Biography[edit]

The son of Babe Herman, Don Herman was signed by his father's employer, the New York Yankees, in 1953. He was a minor league outfielder for one season and a pitcher for 3 more. He hit .213/~.322/.267 for the 1953 Edmonton Eskimos. Don went 3-6 with a 5.53 ERA for the '54 St. Joseph Saints, walking 85 in 83 innings.

He split 1955 between the Visalia Cubs (4-13, 4.33) and Colorado Springs Sky Sox (0-2) before wrapping up in '56 with the Stockton Ports (1-1). He was 8-22 as a pitcher and hit around .201 at the plate overall in the minors.
