Biographical Information[edit]
Don Castle was a first-round pick in 1968 who hit .308 in a cup of coffee in the majors with the Texas Rangers in 1973. In the minors, he hit .314 at Pittsfield in 1970 and .325 at Spokane in 1973. In 1977 with West Haven, he belted 24 home runs. During his minor league career, he also pitched in nine games. One fan put Castle on his "All Royalty" team, presumably because royalty lived in castles. Other players included Jim King, Ray Knight, Scott Earl, and Mel Queen. He is a cousin of Joe Gibbon.
