Biographical Information

Antonio Herrera Gutiérrez founded the Cardenales de Lara in 1942. He died in a plane crash in 1969 along with Nestor Chavez, Carlos Santeliz and 152 others. In 1991, the Cardenales' stadium was renamed Estadio Antonio Herrera Gutiérrez in his honor. He was inducted into the Venezuelan Baseball Hall of Fame in 2015.
