Biographical Information[edit]

Dominique Taylor has been a minor league outfielder.

Taylor hit .578 in his high school career to set a school record. In junior college, he was All-Conference as a freshman. The Houston Astros took him in the 33rd round of the 2011 amateur draft (one pick before Steven Okert) but he did not sign. He was again All-Conference as a sophomore and set Salt Lake Community College records for career hits (151), RBI (104) and steals (56). Transferring to UC Irvine, he batted .309/.366/.443 with 42 runs in 55 games. He was named All-Big West Conference in the outfield. The Kansas City Royals chose him in the 15th round of the 2013 amateur draft; the scout was Colin Gonzales.

Taylor had a fine pro debut for the Idaho Falls Chukars, with a batting line of .322/.380/.502, 14 doubles, 8 home runs and 50 runs in 62 games. He was 5th in the Pioneer League in average (between Joey Curletta and Ryan McMahon), 7th in runs and tied for 9th in steals. He spent most of 2014 with the Lexington Legends and hit .300/.348/.441 with 18 steals in 22 tries; he also was 3 for 13 with a walk for the Burlington Royals. He slumped to .215/.275/.289 with the 2015 Wilmington Blue Rocks.

He was on the German national team in the 2017 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers. Starting in center, he was just 1 for 8 (his hit coming off John Straka) and he made an error in the field. The Royals released him a month later.
