Biographical Information[edit]
Doc Brummer is the brother of Glenn Brummer and spent three seasons in the minors.
Brummer played in the Boston Red Sox chain. He debuted with the 1979 Elmira Pioneers, hitting .284/.358/.367. His .987 fielding percentage led New York-Penn League backstops. With the 1980 Winter Haven Red Sox, he produced at a .231/.331/.258 rate with no homers in 77 games. He played error-free ball as the backup to Marc Sullivan. Brummer hit .262/.365/.364 for the 1981 Winston-Salem Red Sox, while fielding .992; he again backed up Sullivan, who was the Carolina League All-Star catcher that season.
