Biographical Information[edit]
Do-wan Kim pitched for the South Korean national team and in the Korea Baseball Organization before becoming a college coach.
Kim was 2-0 with a 3.26 ERA in the 1990 Baseball World Cup, fanning 23 in 19 1/3 IP as their second-most-used hurler behind Min-tae Chung. He tied for fifth in the Cup in wins and tied Omar Ajete for 3rd in K, behind Chung and Chien-Fu Kuo Lee. He started the Bronze Medal Game against Puerto Rico but allowed three hits, two walks and three runs in 2 1/3 IP (fanning four) before Chung took over in a South Korean win. [1] He was with South Korea for the 1990 Asian Games; they finished second but baseball was not a medal event yet for the Asian Games. [2] H
He was 1-0 with a 0.90 ERA in the 1991 Intercontinental Cup, fanning 15 in 10 innings. He got the win over Juan Damborenea and Spain. He tied Chao-Huang Lin for 4th in the Cup in ERA. [3] He won Bronze in the 1991 Asian Championship. [citation needed] He signed with the LG Twins and had a 1-4, 4.61 record in 1996. In ten games, he allowed 43 hits and 29 walks in 41 IP, striking out 24. He later coached at his alma mater. [4]
