Biographical Information[edit]
Dewald De Klerk was a third-string catcher for the New Zealand national team in the 2017 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers, behind Connar O'Gorman and Beau Bishop; while De Klerk was the youngest of the trio, they were all born within a year. He was one of four members of the team to have attended Mt. Si High School in Washington State in the US alongside Jimmy Boyce, Joseph Boyce and Max Brown. He was one of two position players on the Diamondblacks who did not get into a game; Jason Matthews was the other.
