Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Desmond Henry began his professional career in 2011 at 17 years old. He was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the 4th round of the 2011 amateur draft after stealing 85 bases his last two years of high school. The scout was Todd Guggiana.

In his first professional season, he hit .140/.269/.140 with three RBI and three stolen bases in 23 games for the AZL Rangers. He played two games for the AZL Rangers in 2012 and went hitless in four at-bats. On March 27, 2013, he was traded as the player to be named later to the Kansas City Royals in a deal that sent pitcher Tommy Hottovy to the Rangers. He batted .244/.317/.317 with an Appalachian League-leading 20 stolen bases in 48 games for the Burlington Royals that year. With the Idaho Falls Chukars in 2014, he hit .173/.319/.187 with 13 swipes in 32 games. He began 2015 with the independent York Revolution.
