Biographical Information[edit]

Denny Williams can brag he beat out Bobby Veach for a job. Williams hit .365 in 85 at-bats for the Boston Red Sox in 1924, whose regular left fielder was the 36-year-old Veach. Denny appeared in 19 games at the position. The next year Veach was traded in May after playing only one game for the Red Sox. Williams appeared in left field 42 times in 1925, while Tex Vache had 57 games there and Roy Carlyle was there 43 times.

Williams had broken into the majors with the Cincinnati Reds in 1921, whose regular left fielder was Pat Duncan.

He was killed in a car accident before the 1929 season while an active player in the Pacific Coast League.
