Biographical Information[edit]

Dennis Winn was a minor league infielder. His brother Kevin Winn also played in the minors and his father Earl Winn scouted for decades.

Dennis was taken by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 48th round of the 2002 amateur draft out of high school. He was 16 for 48 with 3 doubles, a homer and four walks as a college freshman, hit .252/.331/.341 as a sophomore and was 4 for 18 with a double and a walk as a junior. His senior year, he batted .316/.354/.476 with 38 RBI in 52 games. Undrafted out of college, he signed with the Phillies. He split 2007 between the GCL Phillies (.371/.400/.552 in 29 G) and Williamsport Crosscutters (1 for 11). He had the second-highest average of any Phillies farmhand with 100+ AB. He hit .256/.292/.394 in 68 games for the 2008 Lakewood BlueClaws, backing up Derrick Mitchell at 2B, Freddy Galvis at SS and Travis Mattair at 3B. Overall, he had hit .288/.320/.439 with 36 runs and 37 RBI in 101 games as a pro, with 24 doubles. He fielded .980 in 47 games at 2B, .961 in 29 games at SS and .895 in 13 games at 3B.
