Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Delta Cleary began his professional career in 2008 at 18 years old. He is the cousin of NBA player Shawn Marion. He was taken by the Colorado Rockies in the 37th round of the 2008 amateur draft. The scout was Damon Iannelli.

The speedy centerfielder began a run in 2009 in which he stole no less than 18 bases in a season (through 2016). Of note, he stole 32 bags in 2009, 34 bases in 2015 and 32 bases in 2016. He reached Triple A for the first time in 2014, hitting .250/.328/.308 with two stolen bases in 16 games with the Colorado Springs Sky Sox. In 2015, he batted .300 or better for the first time, hitting .302 in 125 games between the Harrisburg Senators and independent Long Island Ducks. He batted .321/.363/.410 in 107 games for Long Island in 2016 and .265/.316/.315 in 127 games with the Ducks in 2017.

Cleary was a Mid-Season All-Star in 2012.

After his playing career ended, Cleary established his own sports design business in 2017 and a baseball training business in 2020. These kept him busy through 2022.

The Toronto Blue Jays hired Cleary to serve as a development coach with the FCL Blue Jays in 2023 and a coach of New Hampshire Fisher Cats in 2024.
