Biographical Information

Dayana Batista Vega played for Cuba at the 2006 Women's Baseball World Cup. She was 2 for 10 with 3 walks, 3 steals and 3 runs while fielding .929 at second base. She tied for 7th in the Cup in steals (even with Ashley Stephenson, Akiko Shimura, Meng-Hui Lin and Laura Brenneman). She led the 2010 Women's Baseball World Cup with 7 steals and scored four runs against South Korea while collecting 3 hits against Puerto Rico.

In the 2012 Women's Baseball World Cup, she hit .344/.417/.344 with 5 runs and 3 RBI in 9 games, fielding .886. She stole 7 bases in 11 tries as Cuba's leadoff hitter and second basewoman. She was second in the Cup in swipes (2 behind Bronwyn Gell) and tied Alexa Maldonado for the most times caught. Only Yurismary Báez had a better OBP for Cuba.

As Cuba's captain in the 2015 Pan American Games (the first Pan American Games to include women's baseball), she hit .250/.308/.333 with one run in four games, fielding .900 and surprisingly not trying to steal. She was named Cuba's best second basewoman in the 2015 national tournament.
