Biographical Information[edit]

Davide Anselmi made his minor league debut in 2013.

Anselmi was in the MLB European Academy from 2010-2012. In 2011, he pitched in the European Junior Championship, with four shutout innings for Italy (5 BB, 5 K, 0 H). He was 0-1 with a 2.70 ERA in the 2012 World Junior Championship, fanning eight in 6 2/3 IP. He took the loss in a surprisingly close 4-3 defeat at the hands of Canada. The Cincinnati Reds signed him in April 2013; Jim Stoeckel was the scout.

Anselmi pitched briefly in the summer of 2013. With the AZL Reds, he allowed one hit, one walk and two runs (one earned) in 1 1/3 IP over three games, fanning one. He also made his Italian Baseball League debut, being roughed up for three hits, two walks and three runs in one inning for Fortitudo Bologna. He allowed two runs in four innings in the 2013 World Junior Championship but got a three-inning save against Australia in an upset win for Italy.
