Biographical Information

The son of Laddie Renfroe, David Renfroe was a high draft pick in 2009.

Renfroe hit .470 with 18 steals as a high school senior. He had a commitment to play quarterback at the University of Mississippi but the Boston Red Sox took him in the third round of the 2009 amateur draft. Boston had taken Reymond Fuentes and Alex Wilson in the first two rounds. The scout was Danny Watkins.

In his pro debut, Renfroe hit an unimposing .190/.267/.260 with 68 strikeouts in 200 at-bats for the 2010 Lowell Spinners, while fielding .891 at third base. In '11, he batted .240/.296/.377 for the Greenville Drive, fielding .927.
