Biographical Information[edit]
Dave Valle was signed as a third round pick in the 1978 amateur draft by the Seattle Mariners and scouts Steve Ray and Bill Kearns. His brother, John Valle, was a minor league outfielder from 1972 to 1984. A catcher, he was mainly noted for his strong defensive play, hitting .237 over 13 seasons in the majors, the first ten with the Mariners. He had some power, being in double figures in homers three times, with 12 in 1987, 10 in 1988 and 13 in 1993. He also played for the Boston Red Sox, Milwaukee Brewers and Texas Rangers, his entire career taking place in the American League.
Valle was a broadcaster for the Mariners from 1998 to 2008. He then worked for the MLB Network as an in-studio analyst and color commentator. Along with his duties there, he returned to the M's booth on a rotating basis along with several other former Mariners announcers to fill the spot vacated by the late Dave Niehaus. Valle and the others were on radio alongside Rick Rizzs.
Valle became a manager for the Everett AquaSox in 2014.
He has also been active with a micro-loan business in the Dominican Republic.
