Biographical Information[edit]

Dave Otto was signed as a 2nd round pick in the 1985 amateur draft by the Oakland A's and scouting director Dick Bogard. He pitched in the majors from 1987 to 1994. His first four seasons were with the Oakland Athletics. He was also with the Cleveland Indians for two years and the Pittsburgh Pirates and Chicago Cubs for one season each. In his four seasons with Oakland, he never appeared in more than three games. He was just 2-8 for Cleveland in 1991, but his ERA of 4.23 over 100 innings was actually pretty good - his ERA+ was 99. His ERA then climbed to 7.06 in 18 games mainly as a starter in 1992. His career ended with the 1994 strike. Overall, he was 10-22, 5.06 in 8 seasons.

Otto was a broadcaster for the Chicago Cubs in 2000 and 2001.

His father, Al Otto, played several seasons in the minors, and his son, Travis Otto, was drafted in the 2008 amateur draft.
