Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Dave Latter spent five years in the minor leagues.

He was taken by the Oakland Athletics as the last pick in the 33rd round of the 1989 amateur draft. He began his professional career by posting a 2.29 ERA and averaging more than a strikeout per inning in 28 appearances for the Southern Oregon A's in 1989 and the next year, he was 6-8 with a 2.53 mark in 43 games for the Madison Muskies. He was 6-4 with the Huntsville Stars 1991 and in 1992, he was 8-2 with a 3.07 ERA between Huntsville and the Triple-A Tacoma Tigers. In his first and only taste of Triple-A, he was 0-1 with a 3.38 ERA in five appearances. After posting a 15.00 ERA in six games in 1993, Latter's Athletics playing career was over. He resurfaced as a starting pitcher with the independent Lubbock Crickets in 1995, going 9-7 with a 4.58 ERA in 20 starts. Overall, he was 30-22 with a 3.74 ERA in 207 games (23 starts).

He died on October 27, 2014 at the age of 48 from complications stemming from a heart infection.
