Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Dauri Moreta had to wait until his third major league season to pick up his first major league win. He first reached the majors with the Cincinnati Reds at the tail end of the 2021 season, putting up an ERA of 2.45 in four relief outings, then went 0-2, 5.40 in 35 games in 2022. That season included one start, and he also picked up his first save while striking out 39 batters in 38 1/3 innings. The Pittsburgh Pirates added him as bullpen depth for 2023. In his fourth appearance of the season, he finally received credit for his first win with two hitless and scoreless innings in relief of starter Rich Hill in Pittsburgh's home opener against the Chicago White Sox at PNC Park on April 7th. On a day when team icon Andrew McCutchen made his return to the city after a five-year absence, he was credited with his team's 13-9 win.
