Biographical Information[edit]

Daniel Rosenbaum was a 2012 Rule V Draft pick.

Amateur Career[edit]

Rosenbaum was 5-0 as a high school sophomore then 5-0 with a 0.77 ERA as a senior (setting a school record for ERA). He also hit .420. He was named his Conference's Player of the Year. He struggled as a freshman at Indiana (0-1, 7.72). As a sophomore, he transferred to Xavier and was 5-3 with a 3.79 ERA and 82 K in 78 1/3 IP. He tied for second int he Atlantic-10 Conference in whiffs, 13 behind leader Nick Greenwood. In 2009, the junior fell to 5-5, 5.28. The Washington Nationals chose him in the 22nd round of the 2009 amateur draft.

Minors[edit]

Rosenbaum had a solid pro debut for the GCL Nationals, going 4-1 with a 1.95, .215 opponent average, 1.03 WHIP and 38 strikeouts in 37 innings. In 2010, he pitched for the Hagerstown Suns (2-5, 2.32) and the Potomac Nationals (3-2, 2.09). He remained sharp in 2011 for Potomac (6-5, 2.59) and the Harrisburg Senators (3-1, 2.29). He faded to 8-10, 3.94 for the 2012 Senators. He tied for 10th in the Eastern League in losses. He was drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the 2012 Rule V Draft from the Washington Nationals. He was the third pick, following Josh Fields and Hector Rondon. Rosenbaum did not make the Rockies out of spring training and was returned to the Nationals. He began the year with the Syracuse Chiefs.
