Biographical Information[edit]
After being drafted by the Chicago White Sox in 22nd round of the 2015 Amateur Draft, Danny Mendick played his first summer with the AZL White Sox. He spent most of 2016 with the High-A Kannapolis Intimidators, also appearing with the Winston-Salem Dash and getting into 2 games with the Charlotte Knights. He started 2017 in AA with the Birmingham Barons, but yet again, an early season slump forced him back to A+. 2018 saw him back with the Barons, where he remained for the season.
In 2019, he started with the Knights but was summoned to the Show after 133 games, making his debut on September 3rd and hitting .308 in 16 games. In the pandemic-shortened 2020 season, he played 33 games in the majors, hitting .243; the White Sox made it to the postseason, but he did not appear in any games. 2021 and 2022 saw him splitting time between AAA and the majors; he had his busiest season in 2021, with 71 games in Chicago, where he hit .220 with an OPS+ of just 63.
He signed with the New York Mets before the 2023 season, hitting .185 in 33 games in the majors, and .282 in 91 games for the AAA Syracuse Mets. In the majors, he never had a set position, seeing time at second base, shortstop and in the outfield. He was also used as a mystery pitcher once in 2021, and again in 2023. In 2024, he returned to Charlotte after signing with the White Sox that February, then was called up to Chicago on April 22nd. He was on a tear in the International League at the time, hitting .317 with 8 homers and 20 RBIs in 19 games.
