Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Daniel Schlereth threw 6 no-hitters in high school and struck out 19 batters in one game. He initially enrolled at UNLV, but redshirted his freshman year due to Tommy John surgery. He then transfered to the University of Arizona. He was selected by the Oakland Athletics in the eighth round of the 2007 amateur draft but did not sign. He was then chosen by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the first round of the 2008 amateur draft with the 26th overall selection. Signed by scout Rodney Davis, he made his pro debut that summer.

He made his major league debut with the Diamondbacks on May 29, 2009, pitching in relief. In December 2009, Schlereth and Max Scherzer were sent to the Detroit Tigers as part of a 3 team trade. The Diamondbacks received Edwin Jackson from the Tigers and Ian Kennedy from the New York Yankees.

He is the son of NFL Pro Bowler Mark Schlereth.
