Biographical Information[edit]

Daniel Bibona pitched in the St. Louis Cardinals systems in 2010 and 2012. He was originally taken by the Cardinals in the 16th round of the 2009 amateur draft, a few picks ahead of pitcher Bryan Mitchell, but didn't sign. He did sign after being taken by the Cardinals in the 8th round of the 2010 amateur draft, one selection ahead of future All-Star Corey Dickerson. He was signed by scout Jeff Ishii.

In his first campaign, Bibona went 4-0 with a 1.91 ERA in 8 games (5 starts) for the Quad Cities River Bandits. In 33 innings, he had 39 strikeouts. After missing 2011 to injury, he returned with limited success in 2012, going 0-1 with a 6.43 mark in 2 starts for the Batavia Muckdogs.

Overall, he went 4-1 with a 2.70 ERA in 10 games (7 starts). In 40 innings, he allowed 33 hits and 18 walks (1.275 WHIP), while striking out 44 batters.

Since 2013, he has been the pitching coach for University of California, Irvine. He was elected to the UC Irvine Athletic Hall of Fame in 2025.
