Biographical Information[edit]
Dan Murray pitched in the majors in two seasons. He made his debut with the New York Mets in August of 1999, but only appeared on one game with them before being traded to the Kansas City Royals in return for Glendon Rusch on September 1st that season. After the trade, he pitched four more times for the Royals in September. Between the two teams, he had no decisions and an ERA of 7.84 in 8 1/3 innings. In 2000, he appeared in 10 games for Kansas City, logging 19 1/3 innings, again with no decisions and an ERA of 4.66. The Mets had originally drafted him from San Diego State University in the 10th round of the 1995 amateur draft.
His professional career continued until 2004. In 2002 and 2003, he was with the Oklahoma RedHawks of the Pacific Coast League, the top affiliate of the Texas Rangers, but his ERA was 6.24 the first year and 5.86 the second, precluding a return to the Show. He then finished his career with one season for the Rieleros de Aguascalientes in the Mexican League in 2004.
He was later the pitching coach for the Kingsport Mets in 2005-2006 and St. Lucie Mets in 2007-2008, then was a San Francisco Giants scout.
