Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Dan Collier was selected by the Boston Red Sox in the seventh round of the 1991 amateur draft and played six seasons in their organization. However, he found his greatest success after moving over to the Texas Rangers chain in 1997. Playing for the AA Tulsa Drillers that summer, he homered in seven straight games to tie a minor league record and led the Texas League with 26 home runs. However, his career was derailed when he underwent unsuccessful shoulder surgery following the season. He returned to baseball briefly in 2002 with the Ozark Patriots of the independent Southeastern League, but he went just 4-for-22 in 7 games.
