Biographical Information[edit]

First baseman Dan Black played in the Chicago White Sox minor league system from 2009 to 2015. He also played in Korea, Mexico and the Miami Marlins chain.

He was originally drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the 35th round of the 2008 amateur draft, but did not sign a contract. He did sign after being taken by Chicago in the 14th round of the 2009 amateur draft.

With the Bristol White Sox and Kannapolis Intimidators that year, he hit .216/.336/.284 with 1 home run and 18 RBI in 60 games. In 2010, he hit .288/.364/.466 with 6 home runs and 33 RBI in 57 games for Bristol. In 2011, he hit .286/.354/.496 with 18 home runs, 98 RBI and 41 doubles in 135 games for Kannapolis, earning a spot on the South Atlantic League Post-Season All-Star team. He was also named an MiLB.com Organizational All-Star. He hit .315/.392/.483 with 17 home runs, 88 RBI and 157 hits in 129 games for the Winston-Salem Dash in 2012 and was named a Carolina League Post-Season All-Star - as well as the loop's Most Valuable Player. Once again, he was named a MiLB.com Organizational All-Star. The accolades kept coming in 2013, as he hit .290/.411/.470 with 17 home runs, 83 RBI and 91 walks for the Birmingham Barons and was named a Southern League Mid- and Post-Season All-Star, a MiLB.com Organizational All-Star and a Topps Double-A All-Star. In 2014, he hit .263/.344/.419 with 11 home runs and 43 RBI in 92 games between Birmingham and the Triple-A Charlotte Knights. In his first taste of Triple-A, he hit .267/.344/.424 with six home runs and 21 RBI in 48 games. He began 2015 with Charlotte, hitting .324/.457/.568 with six home runs and 24 RBI in 34 games before being released in May so he could sign with the KT Wiz of the Korea Baseball Organization. He hit .214 in 33 games in the Marlins chain in 2016, but hit .341 in the Mexican League that year. He played in the Dominican Winter League following the season.
