From 1998 to 2000, the New York Mets sponsored two Dominican Summer League teams, replacing the DSL Mets. In 2000, those teams were the DSL Mets East and DSL Mets West. They went 42-28 to finish 4th in the Santo Domingo East. Nelson Cruz led the league with 15 homers and 80 RBI and was 5th with a .351 average.
