Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Johnni Turbo has played in the minor leagues since 2006.

He was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 4th round of the 2006 amateur draft, ahead of third baseman Chris Johnson and in the same round as pitcher Alex Cobb. He signed for a $250,000 bonus, with the scout being Tim Kissner.

He played in the Phillies season through 2012. After Philadelphia let him go, he was signed by the Oakland Athletics and played for the Midland RockHounds in 2013, in what would be, to date, a career year. He played in 100 or more games for only the second time in his career (the first instance was 2008) and had career highs in most major categories. From July 21 to August 30, he rattled off a 33-game hitting streak, the longest in affiliated baseball that year and the fourth-longest in Texas League history.

He began 2014 with the RockHounds.

His cousin is former basketball superstar Shaquille O'Neal. He was born D'Arby Myers, but legally changed his name to Johnni Turbo in 2021.
