Biographical Information[edit]
Curt Coleman was the first major leaguer out of the University of Oregon. He attended at the same time as Byron Houck, who debuted in the majors a month after Coleman. See also photo of Curt Coleman in New York uniform
He played several years in the minors with Tacoma. According to the Sporting Life of June 22, 1912, when he was sold to Atlanta he refused "to play in the South", and went home to Portland. He was generally referred to as Curtis, not Curt.
