Biographical Information[edit]
Craig Colbert was signed by the San Francisco Giants and scout Bill Parese as a 20th round pick in 1986. He spent parts of two seasons catching for them in the bigs, batting .215 in 72 games. He began his coaching career as a player/coach with the Las Vegas Stars in 1998. He was a coach for the Stars in 1999, then was manager of the Fort Wayne Wizards in 2000 and skipper of the Lake Elsinore Storm the following year. He managed the Mobile Bay Bears for two seasons beginning in 2002; from 2004 to 2006, he led the Portland Beavers. In 2007 and 2008, Colbert was the bench coach of the San Diego Padres. In 2009, he became an advance scout for the Philadelphia Phillies.
