Biographical Information[edit]

Cory Riordan pitched at Fordham University from 2005-2007 and eventually earned a bachelor's degree in business administration. The Colorado Rockies drafted Riordan in the 6th round of the 2007 amateur draft and he played in their minor league system from 2007-2013. Riordan got a brief introduction to AAA in 2011 and more extensive looks in both 2012 and 2013, but he was never able to take that last step into the major leagues.

After leaving the Rockies organization, Riordan began an odyssey through the world of professional baseball. He played in foreign leagues in South Korea and Taiwan, and spent three winter seasons in Venezuela and the Dominican Republic. In the U.S., he played in the Detroit Tigers system for one year (2016) before playing his final three seasons in the Atlantic League. All together, Riordan played for 16 different teams from 2007-2019. In Riordan's eight minor league seasons, he compiled a 49-57 record with a 4.48 ERA.

Riordan announced his retirement on May 2, 2020 and accepted a coaching role with the Toronto Blue Jays organization. Unfortunately, the 2020 minor league season was cancelled due to COVID-19. Riordan was a pitching coach for the FCL Blue Jays in 2021-2022 and Dunedin Blue Jays in 2023-2024.
