Biographical information[edit]

The grandson of major leaguer Jack Littrell and son of minor leaguer Jack Littrell, pitcher Corey Littrell was selected by the Washington Nationals in the 43rd round of the 2010 amateur draft. He did not sign, opting to attend the University of Kentucky instead. He was then chosen by the Boston Red Sox in the fifth round of the 2013 amateur draft and soon signed for a $300,00 bonus. He made his pro debut with the Lowell Spinners on July 7th, throwing 2 scoreless innings against the Brooklyn Cyclones. He went 0-3, 1.74 in 12 games for Lowell. In 2014, he was assigned to the Salem Red Sox of the Carolina League, where he was 5-5, 3.60 in 19 games. On July 31st, he was traded to the St. Louis Cardinals along with P John Lackey in return for 1B/OF Allen Craig and P Joe Kelly.
