Cordele White Sox

From BR Bullpen

While baseball returned to Cordele in 1946 following World War II, it was not a high-quality affair. The Cordele White Sox finished last in the Georgia-Florida League, over 10 games behind 7th-place Thomasville. Cordele was last in offens (580 runs), only hitting 7 home runs in 4,317 at-bats as a team (better than the Cordele team managed in 1952, for what it was worth). They led the league in two offensive categories - strikeouts (866) and runners left on base (1,107). Their pitching was little better, allowing 802 runs, second-worst behind Thomasville. Their .925 fielding percentage was .001 ahead of Thomasville, the only worse team. One bright spot was the only triple play turned in the GFL that year. The team produced no major league stars and had no players figure among the league's offensive or pitching leaders.
