Biographical Information[edit]
Connor Perry has played in the minors.
Perry hit .357 with a .517 OBP as a junior college freshman then transferred to Pitt, where he batted .190/.341/.263 in 2018. [1] He improved to .289/.386/.573 as a junior, with 15 homers and 57 runs in 55 games, going 9-for-10 in steal attempts. He tied for 10th in the Atlantic Coast Conference in dingers.
The Detroit Tigers chose him in the 28th round of the 2019 amateur draft. He batted .236/.406/.345 with 30 walks and 25 runs in 37 games for the GCL Tigers East and pilfered 18 bags while only getting caught twice. The outfielder was 3rd in the Gulf Coast League in stolen bases (behind Nasim Nunez and Hugo Cardona) and was 4th in walks. He tied for 9th in the Tigers chain in swipes despite playing in a short-season league.
Perry had gotten lots of help from Pirates star Josh Bell in preparing for the MLB draft and wanted to pay it back but knew Bell had a lot more money than he had so figured he could help younger players. He formed the All American Baseball Collegiate League, which began play in 2020, serving as commissioner and one of the managers. [2] After sitting out the 2020 season when the minor leagues were shut down by the COVID-19 pandemic, he played only 6 games in the Pirates system in 2021, hitting .167 for the Lakeland Flying Tigers. he then moved over to the independent Frontier League where he hit .206 in 26 games between the Washington Wild Things and Florence Y'Alls. In 2022-23, he appeared in a couple of games as a pitcher for the Auckland Tuatara of the Australian Baseball League.
